La Sportiva was founded in 1929 in the Dolomites by a man named Narciso Delladio who at the time manufactured wooden leather boots for lumber jacks and farmers of the valley. After the war, the demand for boots went up forcing Delladio to hire more workers. That is when the name of Calzoleria Sportiva crossed the borders of the valley for the first time.

From that moment onward the Sportiva company took off through the roof and quickly becomes market leader in the category of climbing and mountains. They are leaders in the production of climbing shoes, approach shoes, hiking boots, mountain apparel and more. They also cover the market in the categories of mountain running, trekking and skimountaineering.
